  Product Description
The TD car plate is a double socket version of the TR car plate. It can accomodate 2 damper arm assemblies which makes it particularly suitable for heavy duty applications. The spring/damper arm assemblies act on the trailed unit through two 'L' brackets, one on each side of the caravan 'A' frame. The spring/damper arms are attached to the towing vehicle by the double socket car plate which is designed to hold the centre plate of one spring/damper arm assembly above the other. These centre plates are locked in position by two square headed 13mm set screws in place of the lock handle on the model TR. Each damper assembly is adjustable to provide a damping force of up to 90lbs (41kgs) 180ft/lbs acting at the end of the spring in the U-piece (giving a total of up to 360ft/lbs). The double unit reduces the downward pull on the towing ball of the towing vehicle by approximately 80-90lbs (36-41kgs). This double unit is found to be particularly beneficial where the outfit has a heavy, over 2 tons (2032kgs) trailer and/or where the towing vehicle has a relatively short wheel base (e.g. Land Rover) and/or where the trailer is relatively close-coupled to the towing vehicle.
