The Compatibility From The Wires Are Great, Just Wish That There Was Somewhere To Store ...

by Carl Saunders (15 Feb 2018)
5 star review(5/5)
Worked throughout our three weeks in the piping hot / stormy summer Alps trip.
It just works!
The noise never became obtrusive even when the temperatures soared I'm the middle of the day. The temperatures remained constant and we trusted milk, cheese, vegetables, cans, wine, and cider throughout our time away.
The compatibility from the wires are great, just wish that there was somewhere to store them within the unit.
The power cable fit prevents the flap for the cable 'in' area to close properly when in use. It is a large unit! Check the dimensions, it goes in the cat first to fit camping gear / bikes around to ensure all can get in the car.
It's sturdy, it cleans easily, it feels very well built. a sound investment I'd you're prepared for two/three day replenishments of the food stuffs that you'll keep in it.

Worked Well And Was Very Quiet In Our First Test ...

Worked well and was very quiet in our first test. If there is a place for improvement it would be in the handle style, which is a little stiff to move around.

Really Good!

Its Pretty Good. Noisy To Start With Until A Good ...

by Paul Chipperfield (23 Sep 2016)
5 star review(5/5)
Just bought this from another internet site for £60, its pretty good. Noisy to start with until a good low temp is reached but Eco setting is very quiet.
This will be perfect for use in our tent with an electric hookup and in the car. We are a family of 4 and this will be big enough (kids are small).

Stylish And Seems To Work Ok

by Hamwam (24 Jun 2015)
4 star review(4/5)
Very stylish and easy to use. It is supposed to lower the temperature to 18-25oC below the air temperature around the box. It certainly takes a while to get to that level even running off the mains. So use the handy water fill up ice divider pack that comes with it. Crucially the lengths of the cables: The mains one is 1.75m long and the DC cable is just under 2m long...not far enough to get to the boot from my Mondeo car but long enough to sit comfortably on the back seat from the front cigarette lighter. Like other reviews, keep the engine running! Ideal for touring. Motor/fan is a bit noisy but not too bad. Handle drops down very nicely and acts effectively as a lock. So far looks good....

Noisy

by Grandpa (01 Jun 2014)
4 star review(4/5)
Performance as a cooler is excellent but there are a couple of niggles.
The fan/motor is constantly noisy.
As other reviewers have commented the lid is fairly heavy and will not stay open without support.

A Very Good Buy

by Ruthie (08 Aug 2013)
4 star review(4/5)
Took it camping at the weekend and despite the very hot weather it kept everything very cold, especially the white wine and the beer ! Great coming back from a ten mile walk to a cold beer. Like the other review said, starts off with quite a buzz, but that soon disappears to a very low hum. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars, is that the conection to the ac point in the back of the box is a bit tempremental and easily becomes dislodged. Dc cable fine.

It Takes A Bottle Of Wine!

by A.ward (02 Jul 2013)
5 star review(5/5)
I'd been looking at a Waeco box, but at something close to twice the price I felt the occassional use we will have would not justify that addition, so I opted for this Outwell box - which THEY hasten to add will comply with some new EU rules coming into force. The box manages an energy consumption rating of 'A'.

The model I am reviewing is the AC/DC (230 V-12V) version, coloured grey with green handle and not the 12V only model that, generally, has a green body! I had initially received the wrong box, but this was quickly exchanged by the seller.

Taking it out of its carton I was impressed with how it looked, though the queeky handle left something to be desired! Inside the coolbox were the instructions (not very practical), cables and what amount to accessories - a plastic bottle (1.25L) which you can fill with water and freeze in a domestic freezer to act as an 'ice-cube' in the cool-box, or fill with another other drink to chill and take in the cool-box; and a tray, or divider.

The lid was surpringly heavy, so be careful how you open/close it.

At the back of the lid is a flip cover over the electrical connectors, the selector switch for either AC or DC, selector for heating or cooling and on/off switch.

The inner compartment for storage is generous and, importantly....nay, very importantly allows a bottle of wine to stand...in fact I think you could stand 6 bottles! But for those of you thinking of storing such essentials as butter and cheese (with your wine, of course) then there is plenty of room. Storage is given as 24L and I think this is good, as there are some definate compromises on space when packing for camping trips, even some picnics.

So, to the test. I plugged in the unit and the motor started, a tad noisier than I'd hoped, but this is first-use. In went a bottle of wine for tomorrow night. After a couple of hours of running the motor is still audible and I wonder how this will go down during the night when camping? But a
