Protective Covers
It is easiest if you pull the fridge forward. Firstly remove the top vent on the outside of the caravan. You will need to remove the 4 screws that hold the fridge in position - these are underneath plastic caps in the side wall of the fridge and accessed from inside the fridge. Ensure that gas and electrics are isolated. Pull the fridge forward so that you can undo the gas connection. Pull the fridge forward again ensuring that the electrical wires are not stretched or caught in any way. Remove the cover from the electrical terminals on top of the fridge and disconnect the three heater wires.
You will now need access to the rear of the fridge. To remove the heater you will need to partly remove the metal cover over the chimney assembly. The joint in this cover is 'peened over' and this will need to be released using a spade type screwdriver as far down to the point where the heater is installed. Remove any cable ties that hold the heater cables and withdraw the heater vertically from the chimney assembly.
NOTE. the heater is fitted into a metal tube within the chimnery and you must ensure that the new heater slides into this tube.
Feed the cable of the new heater up to the terminals on top of the fridge and connect. Cable tie the wire as required. Re-assemble the chimney cover using thin nosed pliers. Replace the terminal cover.
You may wish to check the new heater before putting the fridge back in position.
Push the fridge back into the cavity and reconnect the gas connection. Be sure not to trap any of the electrical wires. Use some Rocol sealant or equivalent when re-making the gas joint.
Push the fridge back in position and replace the four fixings. Replace the exterior vent making sure that the flue connection is installed correctly.
Carry out a gas soundness test on the caravan.
