For bedding seams, mouldings, rails, window and door frames and many other types of covered joints in portable buildings, caravans, holiday homes,
boats, freight containers and transport vehicles.

Seam seal CV Non Setting Mastic which forms an elastic tight skin that can be painted over after 24 hours.

Surface preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from frost, grease and loose materials. Apply primer if required. In situations where an
especially neat finish is required, use masking tape to cover the face edges of the joint and remove immediately once tooling has been completed
Cut the top of the screw thread off the cartridge and screw on the nozzle. Cut nozzle to correct diameter for joint size. Apply using a skeleton or powered gun
into the joint ensuring good contact with surfaces.

Properties
Application temperature range: +5ºC to +30ºC
Curing: Seamseal CV cures by evaporation of solvent. Full cure normally occurs in 2-4 days. Rate of cure will depend on thickness, ambient temperature, joint size and design. Lower temperatures and drier conditions will result in a slower rate of cure.
Priming: Primers are not normally required for good adhesion to most metals.
Shelf life: 12 months when stored in cool, dry conditions.
Skinning time: Does not skin. The surface of the sealant will appear dry to the touch after several days but will remain pliable beneath the surface.
Working time: Approximately 20 minutes.

PLEASE NOTE THE DATE ON THE SEALANT IS DATE OF MANUFACTURE NOT EXPIRY DATE THIS PRODUCT IS GOOD FOR 1 YEAR FROM THIS DATE.

3 FAQs on the Hodgsen seamseal CV caravan sealant (White)

I have a 7 year old Dethleffs advantage motorhome with Heki 3 plus skylight which has just started leaking slightly. Having looked at your technical drawings it looks as if the only sure way to solve the problem will be to remove it completely and reseal. Am I right in this assumption and if so is this as straight forward as it would appear? I am a bit concerned that removing the old sealant may not be easy. Could you please advise: 1. what I am likely to need to remove the old sealant 2. what sealant should be used 3 there also appears to be a rubber seal beneath the other frame - will this need replacing at the same time? 4 can i get all the required parts from you? Thanks in advance for your help
This is a straightforward job providing a non setting sealant was used during manufacture. Once the fixing screws have been removed then the frame should lift away from the roof of the vehicle. The ease with which it lifts will depend upon the sealant used. We recommend using a non setting sealant when replacing such as our ref. 205932. The old sealant will need to be removed with a chisel type tool.
The rubber seal should not need replacing unless it is cracked.
I asked for advise on which sealant is recommended for Seitz S4 windows when fitting a new rubber outer frame to outer wall seal on my caravan. On 10th. August & 29th August 2013. I have not yet received the Seals ordered from yourselves. But I would appreciate an answer to my question, as I do not wish to use a wrong Sealant for this situation. Many Thanks. Regards Adrian Meek
We would normally use a non setting mastic such as the Carafax IDL.
Hi I have just purchased a REMIS 400 skylight from you, can I use Sikaflex 512 as a seal between the skylight and the roof
Yes you can but it is not easy to remove should you need to change the rooflight in the future, We normally use a non setting mastic such as Carafax IDL.

This Hodgson Mastic Non-Setting Caravan Sealant was easy to apply and went on where I wanted it to thanks to the nozzle - some nozzles are too big, but not this one. I was very pleased with the price and it was an excellent purchase. My only concern will be its longevity, but that is something I can only wait and see on that.

Non Setting Sealant

by Allen H (31 Jul 2014)
5 star review(5/5)
Ideal product for sealing around components that penetrate the shell of the caravan. I used it on a replacement water housing and around the fridge vents. The component can be removed and repositioned. The cartridge is about 20mm longer than the standard DIY cartidge. I had to chop 20mm off the tube to be able to fit it into my DIY dispenser.

The carafax sealant arrived quickly and was put to good use when i fitted a new vent in my van. The sealant consistency is excellent and the screws pulled down nicely to allow the sealant to do it's job. This is incredible value sealant which made a refreshing change.

Caravan Non-drying Sealant

all though I have not yet used these tubes of sealer I have in the past and find them very good, one tip is to put the tube in a bowl of hot water as in cold weather there harder to squeeze in the gun.

Caravan Mastic Sealant

by foxy (16 Mar 2012)
5 star review(5/5)
arrived fast, found it to be horribly gooey, sticky, in fact PERFECTLY SUITED to sealing damaged panels on this old caravan ---- some left so used on open cille joints on an old Triumph Stag -- IDEAL. Now wondering wether this is ok as anti-nagging device for 'er indoors ?? maybe not, far too useful in my workshop. Forget Screwfix & B&Q, These are my prefferred suppliers in furure
