Replacements For 24 Yr Old Rooflights

The top skin of one rooflight lid tore off our van while driving in horrible gusty side winds, and the other one was wrenched up violently and started leaking. We thought we might have problems finding replacements as the van is 24 years old, but they were a perfect fit. Reasonably priced, and they look so bright!

Good basic MPK rooflight. Clear description of size and features. Easy to fit (after a bit of research on the necessary fixings). Works well. Excellent value overall. The main shortcomings are the lack of necessary fixings and no description of the necessary fixings, and no supplied instructions. These turned out to be simply quality woodscrews between the inner and outer parts of the roof light, and a tube of sealant as there is no gasket included. It would be so easy (and low cost) to identify the length of screws necessary for given thicknesses of caravan roof and include a couple of packs of the commonly needed lengths. In my case for approx 30mm thick roof, 8 x Reisser wood screws 50mm x 3.5mm
Brightens Things Up A Bit ....

Bought to replace a failed skylight, where the handle had separated from the 'glazing'.
First impressions, the plastic seems much 'brighter', it seems to let more light in. A good thing.
Now, I could have just bought the top and handles, but wanted a new blind and screen as well, so plumped for the entire unit, as it actually worked out cheaper. The plan was to leave the original surround in place, just replace the glazing and the screen.
It fits fine, but there is a difference between 1997 fittings and 2022 fittings, so an 1/8" needs trimming out of the locks to make them clamp the skylight shut. A Dremel is your friend.
Good value for money, apart from the courier to us, that was £22 to Highlands.

I have replaced three old MPK rooflights on my 10 year old caravan due to breaks in the handle struts and a design fault in the fixings of the dual skins on the transparent cover, I'm glad to say that this fault have been rectified, and the handles are now quite substantial, the fitting was relatively easy and the new units were an exact match, I am very pleased with them and the service from Leisure direct, the units arriving very well packaged, as a foot note use the 19mm mastic sealing tape, which I purchased at the same time.

As described, this rooflight is exactly the same as the one i removed from my 1998 Avondale Sandpiper caravan it is a simple fit for any DIY person taking me less than an hour with only a screwdriver + scraper to break mastic seal original screws that i removed was good enough to use again and delivery + correspondence was fist class would not hesitate to recommend +use again excellent product + company.

Perfect... I measured the inside of the vent to get my measurement it was perfect fit... Really easy to fit just got some double sided caravan tape its like putty when you put it on the roof. Brilliant stuff you can get it at any caravan shop. I watched a video on how to fit it after that it was piece of cake... You don't get the screws for the inside part they are easy enough to get just explain in the hardware shop and they will show you what ones you need.... Its lightweight but very sturdy.... Delivery was very fast and wrapped like a baby so not chance of getting damaged .... Brilliant Brilliant

Well wrapped and posted quick. Different from picture, I wanted the one in the picture, I got one with a beige internal that was about an inch bigger. Said white on box which was sealed. No screws, unable to use old screws because they were too big. The outer part fitted well but could not fit the inner part in the shower room of my Ford autosleeper Legend GL. I got around this by removing the rooflight over the kitchen and putting it in the shower room, then installing the new rooflight over the kitchen. The extra one inch of plastic covered some damage to ceiling. Looks great. Thankyou Camping-online.

A good value piece of plastic engineering. A little flimsy in some areas but well worth the effort of replacing the whole frame and unit. Would buy again - although I hope I don't need to....

Item was good quality for the price and reasonably easy to fit. Slow delivery and I had to follow up with the company to find out where my item was (hence only 4 stars offered). That said the company responded to my query quickly and informed me that there was a problem with their suppliers. Oh well these things happen so overall I would recommend the item and the company.

Part arrived promptly and was quick and easy to fit. Actually only replaced the outer dome. It fitted the existing inner frame just using the outer and the handles.

MPK Rooflight 420 with Flynet & Blind. The handle on the original unit broke after 14 years of use and rather than replace parts (the old blind and fly screen were showing signs of wear), I purchase the whole new unit. Remarkably easy to install and all done from the inside of the van. The most difficult bit was separating the old unit from the metal roof but a thin plastic spatula run all round between the two worked a treat. Every bit as good if not better than the original equipment. Excellent.

was out of stock, i knew when ordering, but still arrived well within time limit. package was damaged quite a lot, and yet somehow the product was intact. i fitted product myself and took the chance that the actual body was the same as the old, as i had re sealed it to the vehicle just last year, as auto-sleeper had fitted both rooflights badly and the other one was leaking. the mpk was originally fitted with silicone sealer which i found very strange as you are supposed to use the blue tacky product and sikaflex on the outside. any way, so i fitted this to the old shaell and there was only one minor difference, and that was the handles will not lock properly down until you file a small amount from the contact surface they meet when trying to lock down. other than that, it is a smaller cone on the outside, which is held with screws now, so i take it can be taken apart for cleaning, which was not possible with the old design

A direct replacement for the original on my 1996 Swift caravan. An improvment on original as it incorporated a lock which original didn't have. Easy to fit using original screws ,took about an hour. The hardest part was removing the old mastic from roof aperture.
