Dometic 3 way fridges

In the market for Dometic 3 way fridges, but haven't made up your mind yet? With so many models to choose from, it's no wonder looking for that perfect camper fridge is doing your head in. But there's not much to finding the right Dometic 3 way fridges, really. If you know what design, series and ignition system works for you, the rest is a matter of personal taste.

Design
Wheel arch fridges, such as the RMS8400 and RMS8501, can save you precious space, as they're designed to fit perfectly over the wheel arch. Slim fridges like the RM122 and RM123 go well with smaller kitchenettes, and they're very popular with owners of campervan conversions and vintage campervans.

Series
Dometic 1-series consists of noiseless absorption fridges that are very popular with vintage campervan owners. Dometic 5-series fridges are newer, more compact models that boast the efficiency of the classics, but with a contemporary look and a choice of sizes to suit most leisure vehicles. Likewise, the Dometic 8-series boasts a contemporary look, but also backs it up with innovative, energy-efficient technology, as well as a lighter and more versatile design.
Dometic Fridge Ignition Systems
Dometic Ignition and Energy Selection Explained
There are three types that Dometic Offer:

Electronic Piezo
The model number of this type of fridge ends in zero (eg – RM5310). This type of fridge requires you to push a button on the front to ignite it. You will hear a clicking sound as it is igniting. You will also need to manually select the energy source (12V/Gas/230V) on this type of Dometic Fridge.

MES (Manual Energy Selection)
The model number of this type of fridge ends in one (eg – RM8401). This type of fridge is auto-igniting. Thus, if the flame goes out (if there is a power source available) it will auto-ignite the fridge. On this type of Dometic Fridge, you will need to manually select the energy source (12V/Gas/230V).

AES (Automatic Energy Selection)
The model number of this type of fridge ends in five (eg – RM8505). This type of fridge is auto-igniting. Thus, if the flame goes out (if there is a power source available) it will auto-ignite the fridge. On this type of Dometic Fridge, it will automatically select the best energy source available (12V/Gas/230V). It first checks for mains power (230V). If that is not available, it will next check whether there is a “D plus signal”. This signal exists if the caravan is plugged into your car and the car is running. On a motorhome, it exists if the motorhome is running. If there is a “D-Signal” it uses the 12V supply. If there is no signal then it will first check if there is a gas source available and use that. Finally, if there is no gas source it will use the leisure battery 12V supply.

Dometic Fail-safe fridges
Another important note is that these fridges are fail-safe in respect that if the flame goes out they automatically cut-off the gas feed.

Dometic 5 Series Fridge
Modern versions of some of the brand's most-loved classics, the Dometic 5 series fridge range is essentially a revamped series 4. Featuring LED lights, these spacious Dometic 3 way fridges come with door storage and 60 to 80 litre total capacity, as well as energy-saving temperature dials. Three-way power supply (gas, 12V DC and 230V AC), silent operation, user-friendly control panel and secure door locking are the clever features that make this series ideal for campervan conversions.

Dometic fridges are ideal for couples and families who want to look after nature as well as their wallets when they head off on a summer vacation. With trusty Dometic caravan fridges keeping the food safe and fresh throughout your travels, you can have your Michelin star-worthy meals in the comfort of your holiday home.

The space can be partitioned into different temperature zones, to store fruit, vegetables, meat and other perishable items in optimum condition. A flexible shelving system with height adjustable and dishwasher-safe trays enables you to make the most of every inch of space.

They all come with user-friendly control panels, so the whole family can enjoy fresh food stored just right. The freezer compartment can easily be removed to improve energy consumption by 20%, so you can have the best of nature, even on a budget. With secure doors that lock and open in a flash, your scrumptious snacks will be at your fingertips, literally.
