Motorists and owners of Thetford caravan fridges should have regular eye tests to ensure that they can safely drive on the roads, according to one expert body.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) suggested that an eye test once every two years is crucial. Drivers who fail to pass on-demand tests may face having their licence revoked.
Kevin Clinton, RoSPA's head of road safety, said: "People don't have to fear losing their licence, they just have to go to the opticians. We can't stress enough the importance of having an eye check every two years."
He added that people who have been caught driving with bad eyesight are not always aware that they have a problem with their eyes. He also mentioned that people who need to wear glasses should always keep them on during journeys.
The Co-operative Motor Group released figures that showed the number of drivers in the UK who have had their licence revoked due to bad eyesight has doubled in the past year.
