It's not often you can enjoy two of our nation's favourite terrains in one region...Exmoor does pretty well in my view, with it's pony-strewn moorland running so close to the coast that the heather on the hills and the gorse of the coastal paths merge in a colourful summer fringe. But it's hard to beat the sheer magnitude and beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Within this area's breath-taking contrasts lie scope for enjoyment so wide that it's a challenge to imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy themselves if they made this area the focus of their touring hols.

If you like to take in the odd strip of sand en route, explore Robin Hood's Bay, relishing the great coastal views from Ravenscar. Moor to Sea Cycle NetworkTwo wheeled exploration of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park has been helpfully enabled by a number of regional cycle routes which link to form the 'Moor to Sea Cycle Network' connecting Scarborough, Whitby, Dalby Forest, Pickering and Great Ayton. There's challenge for those who desire it (and more gentle loops for those who don't!) with stunning scenery to enjoy along the routes which alternate between moorland, forest and coastal loops.
